And next week, that mission takes another step forward as we deliver training across the UK, alongside our upcoming online session on the 25th of August.

Why We Started CBAM Training across the UK & Ireland 

Every business has an origin story, and ours is a simple one: we saw too many people and organisations paying the price – quite literally for gaps in knowledge they didn’t even know they had. Missed compliance requirements, avoidable mistakes, and severe charges that could have been prevented with the right guidance at the right time.

That’s what pushed us to start training. Not as an add-on to our other services, but as a genuine effort to educate people, close those knowledge gaps, and help organisations avoid the kind of costly penalties that come from simply not knowing better.

Years on, that founding purpose hasn’t changed. If anything, it’s sharpened. Every session we run is still built around the same idea – give people practical, usable knowledge that protects them and their business long after the training ends.

What’s Coming Next Week: Onsite Training in the UK

Next week, our team heads out to deliver bespoke onsite training for a number of our international clients across the UK. This isn’t a one-size-fits-all session pulled off a shelf – every programme we deliver is shaped around the specific needs, risks, and goals of the organisation we’re working with.

Here’s what that typically includes:

• A needs assessment before the session – we take time to understand the client’s operations, team structure, and specific risk areas before building the training around them
• Practical, scenario-based learning – rather than sitting through generic theory, participants work through real situations relevant to their industry
• Interactive sessions, not lectures – Our trainers keep things engaging, with room for questions, discussion, and hands-on application
• Post-training resources – attendees don’t just walk away with notes; they get material they can actually refer back to
• Tailored compliance guidance – specific to the regulations and standards relevant to that client’s sector and location

Delivering this onsite, in person, for international clients is exactly the kind of work we love – it means adapting to different regulatory environments, different team dynamics, and different challenges, all while keeping the same quality bar across the board.

Why CBAM Is a Growing Part of the Conversation

One topic that’s come up repeatedly in our recent training sessions is CBAM – the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism. If your organisation imports goods like steel, aluminium, cement, fertilisers, electricity, or hydrogen into the EU, this is no longer something you can afford to overlook.

CBAM had a transitional phase running from October 2023 through the end of 2025, during which businesses only had to report the emissions embedded in their imports -no financial cost attached. That changed on the 1st of January 2026, when CBAM moved into what’s known as its definitive phase.

This new phase brings real financial consequences. Importers now need to register as Authorised CBAM Declarants if they’re bringing in more than 50 tonnes of covered goods a year. Emissions data has to be verified by accredited third-party auditors -self-reported estimates are no longer enough. And organisations will need to purchase and surrender CBAM certificates based on those verified emissions, with penalties for non-compliance running into real money per tonne of excess, unverified, or unreported carbon.

There’s also more change on the horizon. The EU has already put forward proposals to expand CBAM’s scope to cover additional downstream products from 2028, meaning the list of businesses affected is only going to grow.

Here’s why this matters right now, not later:

• Authorisation and registration take time – applying at the last minute leaves no room for delays or rejected applications
• Emissions data needs to be collected at the individual production or installation level, not estimated at a company-wide average
• Third-party verification adds a layer of process that many organisations haven’t had to manage before
• The financial exposure is real and ongoing, not a one-off cost
• Waiting until deadlines are imminent significantly increases the risk of non-compliance and the charges that come with it

This is precisely the kind of shifting regulatory landscape we built our training around addressing. Being prepared for CBAM isn’t just about ticking a compliance box – it’s about protecting margins, avoiding disruption to import operations, and staying ahead of a mechanism that’s only going to become more far-reaching over time.

Online Training – 25th August

Regulations shift. Risk profiles change. What was considered “good enough” a few years ago often isn’t anymore – CBAM is a clear example of that shift playing out in real time. Organisations that treat training as a one-off checkbox exercise tend to be the ones caught out later, facing charges, penalties, or reputational damage that a well-timed training session could have prevented entirely.

That’s the gap we’re here to close. And it’s also why we keep investing in expanding our training offering -more sessions, more formats, more topics like CBAM and other evolving regulations -so that no client, wherever they’re based, is left without access to the knowledge that protects them.
